Types of Coffee Machines.

There are four different types of Coffee Machines.

  • Drip Coffee Maker
  • Espresso Coffee Maker
  • French Press Coffee Maker
  • Single Cup Coffee Maker

Drip Coffee Makers

Where to buy coffee machines - Drip Coffee Maker

These types of coffee makers are mostly found in many households and are more popular in the world. They are standard home dispensers which are extremely easy to use and inexpensive types of coffee machines. If you have multiple coffee drinkers in your household, this is definitely the type of coffee machine you would want to buy since they can brew anywhere from one to twelve cups of coffee at once. As I mentioned earlier, these are extremely easy to use, all you have to do is add a coffee filter with your preferred type of ground coffee, fill the reservoir with water and simply turn the machine on. In just a few minutes, a pot filled with your favorite hot beverage will be ready for consumption.

Espresso Coffee Machines

Who would want to have this magnificent piece of coffee maker in their home? Espresso Coffee machines are simply the best since they are perfect for a wide range of coffee drinks, including the ones you normally buy at the coffee shop. What is Espresso? It is the bold concentrated type of coffee drink first seen in the 1800’s in Italy. It is now commonly known worldwide and it is one of the most popular types of coffee in the world. This mazing piece of art was designed to use almost any type of ground coffee including both dark and light roasts to make that perfect espresso. You can literally make any number of espresso shots with this baby in your kitchen. Apart from its fascinating looks, I really don’t see why you wouldn’t want to add this to your kitchenware collection.

 French Press Coffee Makers

Looking for a place Where to buy coffee machines - French Press Coffee Maker

Developed in the 1850’s, French presses have remained unchanged and one of the most preferred types of coffee machines despite using the oldest forms of modern coffee making. This might come as a surprise considering all the technological advances by other coffee makers. The real reason behind this is due to its relative simplicity which includes no requirement for electricity usage. I personally move with the times and stay up to date with the world’s daily transformations. I therefore wouldn’t want to have one of these in my kitchen but perhaps you might want to have a classic hot cup of coffee, if there is such a thing as a “classic cup of coffee”.

Single Cup Coffee Makers

These types of coffee machines are pretty self-explanatory. They are perfect for brewing a single cup of coffee without causing any sort of mess or fuss in the process. They use pre-packaged coffee pods which comprise of coffee grounds and a small coffee filter all contained within this single package. How does it really work before you can have a sip of your favorite cup of joe? Simply put, place the pod or cup which is designed to fit in a specific type of coffee machine where water will be filtered through for the brewing to take place. All this happens in the contained space with a single push of a button. The real benefits that come with this type of coffee machine is the ease of cleaning up and maintenance. The cleaning process involves taking out the used pots and simply throwing them away. I must say that this machine is simply perfect for small households where the number of casual coffee drinkers does not exceed two.

This post is very cool! I didn’t know really any of this info except for the drip coffee maker as I had one but it literally just broke on me this morning! Light comes on but no coffee for me! I was always more of a drive through coffee drinker but I think I may invest in one of those single cup makers as I am the only one who drinks coffee in my house and not having to clean out soaked coffee grounds would be nice! Great post, I may purchase one of these soon!

Hey Krista. It’s great to see you here. Thanks for your comment and I am really glad that you enjoyed this post. I am sorry to hear that your coffee machine just decided to abandon you at such a crucial time. I also think a Single Cup Coffee maker is something worth looking at since you are the only coffee drinker in the house. I was just about to ask you how many of you drink coffee…all the best. 🙂

  • Jake

I’m a huge coffee drinker! I currently have a drip coffee maker but am leaning towards single serving makers due to being the only one in my household who drink coffee. This is good to know information!

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Don’t worry Jake, you are not the only one who drinks coffee like they’re breathing. Trust me, some of us a little embarrassed to disclose just how many cups we normally have per day. I also think single serve coffee makers are perfect if you are the only one who consumes this magical beverage in your household. Thanks for you comment…to happy coffee drinking. 🙂

  • Ben

Hey, the coffee machine in my house just broke! It was a more old-fashioned type, but I loved it. Still wasn’t replaced. I like the dunkin donuts brewed coffee. But the most I can take is 1 cup a day. And only right when I wake up. Or else I’ll take tea. Too much coffee dehydrates me. But the morning smell..ahhhh….

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Hey Ben…thanks for stopping by. I know what you mean about the morning smell of coffee. I know a friend of mine who just loves the smell of coffee beans. I am sorry your coffee machine is broken but now you know where to get a new one when the time is right. 🙂

  • Angelique

    Hi Peter,
Being a huge amateur of coffee I really enjoyed learning more about my favorite drink of the morning. I am more of the ‘Single cup makers’ and even though I like the ‘What else’Brand I love to vary and taste different flavors.
I also like to make coffee in an Italian coffee machine and I love the taste of good cappuchino. I was surprised by some of the info you gave. I thought Italy was the second largest world consumer… good to know 🙂
Thank you for the information and I am looking forward to read more from you
    Angelique

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Hi Angelique, good to hear from you again fellow WA member 😉 Yep, it’s true that Germany was the second largest coffee consumer in the world. It seems like they have now been overtaken by Sweden since these numbers change almost every minute. According to the Wall Street Journal, Finland still tops the charts. Thanks for your comment Angelique, I wish you all the best.

  • Rawl

I love coffee. I’ve been drinking it since I was 18. I stick to one mug a day now otherwise I drink too much. But now with flavored coffee and creamers you can make iced coffee so it makes it more challenging not to drink more than one mug.

I like that you present all the different kind of coffee machines, a little bit of history and maintenance. I actually enjoy the French Press more if I’m on vacation and the Espresso Machine when I’m at home.

The 10 facts are great, especially about priests thinking it was evil. This is true for other things, like chocolate, that were thought to be evil until given a chance.

Thanks for giving us the information to make a decision on what type of coffee machine to purchase.

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Hi Rawl, it’s always a pleasure when someone really finds the information I share helpful and useful at the same time. I take pride in doing as much research as I can before coughing out any sort of information on my blog. I am currently on three cups of coffee per day and don’t see myself cutting down anytime soon. I just love this hot beverage. 🙂

  • Ron

Was in need of a coffee maker and was researching it on Google, this article was very informative for me ty, I chose the single coffeemaker, because I love my coffee fresh. Hopefully it will arrive soon.

    Thank you for the information.
    Ron

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Hey Ron, thanks for stopping by. I am glad you found what you were looking for using this post. Single cup makers are obviously perfect for use by not more than two people, otherwise the third person would have to wait quite a while before they can enjoy a cup of joe.

  • Steph

Thank you for this article about coffee. I have used the drip coffee makers before, but never heard of some of them to include the French Presses. How does each of the coffee makers affect the taste and quality of the coffee? I am guessing since today is October 1st, Japan is celebrating the Official Coffee Day right? There seem to be so many people who seem to be addicted to coffee. What is it about coffee that makes people addicted to it?

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Hi Steph, thanks for stopping by and leaving such an important comment. To answer your question about how each of the coffee makers affect the taste and quality of the coffee – I doubt very much that they have any effect at all. As I have mentioned, their main usage depends on how many coffee drinkers are using the coffee machine. I might be wrong but it simply makes sense that apart from the espresso maker which is designed for espresso shots, one can make any type of coffee drink with any of these machines. It’s what you add to the coffee that changes its quality and taste, not the machine you use. I hope I have answered your question to your full satisfaction and hope to hear from you soon. 🙂 Happy coffee drinking…

  • Melody

Well someone mentions coffee and I’m in! I just love coffee. I didn’t know any of those facts before. Great explanation of all the different types of coffee machines. I guess my favorite is a single cup maker. Since I believe I have shares in the k-cup industry. haha Oh well the coffee is good. Can you get single serve pods from Amazon too?

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Hi Melody, someone mentions melody and I hear the sound of great music. 🙂 Who doesn’t love coffee right? I guess we all have different interests anyways…As far as your question about single serve pods, Yes you can get them from Amazon. Depending on your country of residence, simply click the “Buy Coffee Machines Here” button above and once you are inside Amazon, perform a quick search using the search box at the top of the page by typing “single serve pods” and check if you can’t find what you are looking for. I doubt very much you won’t. Have a great coffee day Melody and I wish you all the best with your business.

  • Natalie

I often tell people that my blood type is coffee (smile). I drink coffee from the moment my feet touch the ground in the morning to my before bed time cup of joe (decaf). My Kuerig pot just went up on me and I was actually in the market for a new coffee maker. Right now I am using the outdated coffee pot brewer which brews entirely too much and my husband and I each end up making a pot before work (because we go to work at different times) and the other half of the pot each time goes to waste. My experience though with the Kuering was not a pleasant one, it was either clogged every other day and who has time to fool with that at 4am? Exactly. So my question is do you have a recommendation based on what I have told you here that is suitable for my needs?

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Hi Natalie, you have no idea how much I was giggling away as I was going through your comment. You must really love your coffee! I hear you about wasting a lot of your coffee because of the “work time” situation you and your husband have in hand. On top of what you already have, I would suggest that you invest in a single cup maker which will not only save you water and electricity, you will be saving a lot of coffee from going to waste. You can use your Kuerig pot when the two of you are both at home at the same time (when you are not going to work) and enjoy the pot together. This is just a suggestion, I don’t know what you think. Thanks a lot for your comment and I hope I have been able to help with your situation.

  • Eoinmc

My own favourite is the drip type, which is what I have. You’re correct – It’s inexpensive and zero hassle. The one I have doesn’t even need paper filters and you can use any brand of coffee you wish, unlike some of these cartridge loading machines I see in some stores and homes. They stick you with a brand of overpriced coffee cartridges so you end up paying more with less opportunity to explore other varieties. Not for me.
I am impressed with the Expresso Machine though. Looks great and I’m sure the Expresso’s taste great too.
There was a time when people said coffee was bad for you except in small quantities. Delighted to hear that there are benefits.

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Hi Eonimc, what a great name you have there…I really thought it was a good idea to discuss the different types of coffee machines before revealing this amazing website to visit when you are in need of a coffee maker of your choice. The espresso is definitely my favorite. You just gave me an idea to do a lot more research on the health benefits of coffee just to dispel the notion that many people have about this amazing beverage. Thanks for your comment and I hope this won’t be the last time I hear from you. 🙂

  • Justin

While I am a big fan of the classic drip I am told the French press produces the best coffee. I have another interesting fact to share about coffee. Coffee and coffee shops are generally viewed as inspiration for the industrial revolution. Rather than drinking beer all day and spending time in pubs humans drank coffee and talked intelligently about ideas in coffee shops.

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Hi Justin, let me start off by thanking you so much for sharing another interesting fact about coffee with the world. I couldn’t agree with you more about intelligent chats that people have in coffee shops. The truth of the matter is that people spend more time in coffee shops than they do in pubs. Which brings me to another fact that pubs still sell coffee while it’s very rare to find your favorite alcoholic beverage in a coffee shop. People wake up with a cup of coffee and often enjoy a cup or two before bedtime…that is just an icing on the cake. Oh, we also have our cake with coffee too. 🙂

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Thanks for your comment Mike, I see you are into chocolate and that’s fine. We can’t all like the same things right? Enjoy my friend!

  • Emily

    Hi Peter
Well I sure did not know all those facts about coffee! I had no idea only one state grew coffee! I personally use the single use coffee machine at home and I looove it. As I live alone, there is no point in making 12 cups a day….So for convenience, the single serve machine cannot be beat. However, it is more expensive than just buying coffee grounds. Hence why at the office, where 4 of us are, we have the conventional one.

    • Peter Mantu Post author

Hey Emily, I see that you are back again and thanks for paying us another visit. You must be loving our site hey! It’s actually true that the single cup coffee maker is best if there aren’t that many coffee consumers in your household. Thanks again for you comment and have a lovely cup of coffee. 🙂
