Is affiliate marketing still profitable_Is Affiliate Marketing Worth it

Honestly, is affiliate marketing still profitable?Β Is affiliate marketing worth it? With all these so-called Internet marketing gurus saturating the world-wide-web with all their scams, many people are still left wondering whether affiliate marketing is a waste of time or not.Β

My honest answer to these questions is Yes it is, but not for everyone and I will explain why. I will also explain why I said it’s worth it in the next few minutes and also show you how you need to go about doing it right. Just stick around a little longer. πŸ™‚ Is affiliate marketing dead? If it is, then I must have stuck my head in the sand for too long.

Important Note: Taking a few minutes of your precious time and reading this Wealthy Affiliate review could be the best thing to do right now! You can always come back and read this post in a few minutes. Trust me, you will not regret this! πŸ™‚

If you are one of those who do not know or understand the process of affiliate marketing, do yourself a favor by reading one of my previously published posts: What is Affiliate Marketing and How Does it Work?

Is affiliate marketing still profitable?

We all have our valid reasons for wanting to take this path towards our financial freedom, if you want to call it that. I recently went on my own private mission by taking some of my precious time and dedicating it towards conducting a thorough study of affiliate marketing. The main reason why I did this was because of my own interest in this type of Online business model, but also wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into. On the other hand, it simply made sense to me since I was only a beginner in this Online marketing world, not to mention that I didn’t have a product of my own to sell or promote Online. Little did I know that I was the product I wanted to promote.

Without beating too much around the bushes, I would like to disclose my findings about whether affiliate marketing is still profitable or not. The real question here is whether you have what it takes to make it profitable and worth it, or not. Affiliate marketing is not a shortcut to success. Affiliate marketing is not for you if you think you are going to get rich overnight. I don’t know what your intentions are but if you are looking for a get-rich-quick scheme, this is definitely not for you. If you truly understand the whole process of affiliate marketing, then you stand a better chance of making money Online than most of us did when we first started.

Who is affiliate marketing for?

Anyone who is in perfect alignment with their passion of helping people get what they want is good enough to become an affiliate.

Let me explain what I mean by the above. If you want to get involved in the affiliate marketing business as an affiliate, you owe it to yourself to read the post I mentioned above. This will give you a clear picture of where you fit within the hub. As soon as you fully grasp what your role is in this whole process, then sharing your passion with the world will become the easiest thing you can do. You must commit to helping people get what they want before you even think of reaping the rewards. Life is much easier this way.

Β You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want.

by Zig Ziglar.

The above doesn’t only apply to affiliate marketing. It applies to everything you want in life and if you can apply the above to everything you do, you are truly destined for success.

In order to receive, you MUST give.

There is no such thing as something for NOTHING.

Nothing happens from doing NOTHING.

Is affiliate marketing still profitable_Is affiliate marketing worth it

I know that the above might sound like a lot of work, which is why I always advise anyone looking to start any type of business to focus on what they are passionate about. Whatever it is that interests you the most is good enough to be turned into a successful business, whether Online or off-line. I prefer helping people Online because of the ability to reach a broader audience. I understand the power of the Internet and how important it is for us to preserve it. The Internet is one of the best things that’s ever happened to us, whereas Facebook and Google are just by-products of the world-wide web. With that being said, make sure you understand who you write and publish posts and articles for. You are not publishing or writing for Google, Bing, Yahoo, Facebook or Twitter.

How to become a successful affiliate marketer

Stop publishing posts and articles for search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. They are merely there to help you reach people who are searching for the kind of help and information you can offer. This post is intended for someone like you, a person who needs help with affiliate marketing. Simply write and publish for people who are searching for information. Search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo will find your content or information and bring it closer to relevant people who are searching for it. This is Search Engine Optimization in a nutshell. If you don’t understand the meaning of Search Engine Optimization, you are definitely the right person for this kind of business.

Of course there are certain things you need to learn along the way but SEO is the least of your worries. I don’t care what you have been taught before but sharing quality information is the best Search Engine Optimization you should focus on.Β  If people find your information helpful and useful, they will be compelled to share it with others and I am sure this is something you would like to happen.

How long does it take before you can make money as an affiliate?

Let me start off by telling you how fortunate you are to be reading this. When I started out with affiliate marketing, I didn’t have any knowledge of the information I am sharing with you now. Let’s just say that the only people who made money Online were only a select few that didn’t want to share their secrets. They wouldn’t even explain the methods they claimed to be the best to use just to take money away from you.

There are many ways of making money Online as an affiliate. Some ways take longer while others don’t. All you need to do is pick the one you are comfortable with and stick with it. Here are a few methods I recommend.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is another way of making money as an affiliate but if you have a blog, nothing really stops you from doing both on your blog. You need to look at your blog as a business and see it as one. Commit yourself to its success as a valuable source of information.

Creating an Online store

Creating an Online shop using other people’s products is another method of making money Online as an affiliate that seems to be taking the Internet world by storm. If you have heard of Shopify but didn’t really understand how it all works, this is the way to do it and checking it out is something you might want to do. Remember that being involved in affiliate marketing as an affiliate doesn’t require you to have a product of your own.

Blogging about anything

Blogging as an affiliate is one of the methods that take a long time to produce results. What do I mean by a long time? It can take up to a year to see results from your blogging efforts as an affiliate. I am only talking from my personal experience whereas someone else might say something different. Don’t get me wrong, blogging is also one of the best ways to make money as an affiliate since you own your blog and control its content and affiliate products. Your rewards will match the value you provide.

Many newcomers would wish they saw this post earlier. As there are so much scams around the web, that literally charge thousands of dollars for piece of info on affiliate marketing that can be found Online for free. I felt this is why many have a misconception on affiliate marketing. Anyway back whether or not it is still profitable, In My Honest Opinion, affiliate marketing is still in its infancy state, and IT will continue to grow!

      Hi Jeremy,

In general, as far as business is concerned; I am not sure who is responsible for determining the costs of consumer products. One thing I am certain of with Online businesses is that we are not willing to pay for something that can be found somewhere else for free. The main reason behind all the scams is lack of knowledge for newbies. As soon as they develop an interest in starting an Online business, whether it’s affiliate marketing or Internet marketing of any kind; they get easily fooled by screen-shots of sales made by others who have been in the game long enough. They assume that their success will be an overnight thing.

I agree with you when you say that affiliate marketing is still in its infancy stage as more and more useful information of high quality gets published Online. Thanks for your comment Jeremy, all the best to you.

Hi Peter, I really agree with you on this. Affiliate marketing is very much a going thing, it is not dead and I don’t think it ever will be. It is not for everyone, it takes a lot of hard work and you need to learn how to do it properly which will take some time and dedication.

      Hi Lynne,

You couldn’t have said it better…dedication, coupled with consistency is definitely the way to go in this affiliate marketing business. Many people tend to give up easily when they don’t see immediate results. These are the same people who wouldn’t mind spending their hard earned money on a college degree that requires at least five years to complete. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against education, it’s schooling that seems a little confusing for me. Anyways, if anyone wants to do something that doesn’t force you to do what you don’t like doing, perhaps giving this an attempt isn’t such a bad idea.

Thanks for your comment Lynne, all the best to you! πŸ™‚

Hey Peter, this is a great article on affiliate marketing and the different avenues that people can take to get involved.
I have been in the affiliate marketing scene now for about 6 years give or take and I think that although people don’t realize it, like you say its a lot easier to get involved now because of the volume of information available. Its not easy, and a lot of people get misinformed about affiliate marketing, there is a lot of rubbish out there as we know all too well! But get the right information and the right training, it can be a very profitable business.

    • Peter Mantu Post author

      Hi Andrew,

Let me start off by thanking you for your comment. You are quite right about the potential we all have in making affiliate marketing a profitable business because of the volume of information available nowadays. Here is the thing that gets people misinformed and misled, screen-shots with our own affiliate commissions which took months or even years to achieve. The good thing is that it can now take newbies a lot less time than it did with some of us since they don’t have to go through the trouble we did. There is ample training available for them, almost at their fingertips.

What I like about Wealthy Affiliate is the fact that one can still make it work without ever paying a penny. Wealthy Affiliate truly teaches success and anyone looking to take out all the guess work without wasting any of their precious time should check it out. They have nothing to lose.

Thanks again for your comment Andrew, all the best to you.

Affiliate Marketing will always be profitable as long as the internet exist. With the way things are going at the moment, most companies utilize the power of social media to do their work/promote stuffs & it seems to have taken over conventional methods like the News/Papers/Magazines (We even have E-magazines now). With a smartphone, everything is made more convenient for us but at the same time, distanced the consumers & the sellers.

Understanding what you’re selling is the most important thing & audience will always appreciate facts in reviews. I believe those authors who lists down the Pros/Cons will do slightly better than those who just list down the good things. Who doesn’t wanna hear fancy stuffs? πŸ™‚

    Great post!

    • Peter Mantu Post author

      Hi Lee,

I hear you about smartphones having made things more convenient, as for distancing the consumer and sellers; I am not sure if I am with you. I look at any new developments as an addition to what we already have. We don’t all need smartphones, at least not yet. There are certain things smartphones won’t be able to do in the near future. You are probably wondering what those things are. I would say wait until smartphones are obsolete and shake my hand as many times as you like.

Back to Affiliate marketing…I have to agree with you when you say that it will always be profitable as long as the Internet exists. Thanks for your comment and all the best with your business.

  • Tommy

You are so correct! Affiliate marketing is a viable and profitable strategy to earn money online. I became involved in A.M. a few years ago when I started a blog. The site never seemed to generate the numbers it should, and I struggled to make even a few measly sales. It takes time to learn what works and what does’t if you go it alone- but thankfully there are sites out there that explain it all in full detail. Wealthy Affiliate is a great suggestion. They are genuine and honest in everything they say and do. (That’s a rare thing online!) Thanks again for the great info!

    • Peter Mantu Post author

      Hi Tommy,

What most of us don’t realize is the importance of helping each other. This is what I see affiliate marketing as. We help each other get what we want without putting any pressure on anyone. As an advertiser in affiliate marketing, you are not obliged to putting pressure on me as affiliate in order for you to make sales. That is the same approach affiliates should adopt in helping customers find the best products or services Online. It’s that simple, there is no competition. All you have to do is provide value. Thanks for your comment Tommy, all the best to you.

  • Peter

To me promoting other peoples products and services is the way to go. I have zero time to develop my own products or develop a training course. Maybe down the road. Great review on what people can expect from affiliate marketing. Really well done, love your site. πŸ™‚

    • Peter Mantu Post author

      Thanks Peter,

As much as I like promoting other people’s products, I also believe that if you get to a point where you feel like you have a lot more to share with others; you should definitely share in the form of a product. A product is exactly what it is, a PRODUCT. This can be anything from an eBook to physical products, they are all good enough to be sold if they provide value to the consumer. Wealthy Affiliate University is definitely the best place to learn about this.

Thanks again for your comment Peter, all the best to you.
